Section 235
Do not adulterate drugs or sell adulterated drugs
(1) No one shall knowingly adulterate any medicine in such a way that the effect of the medicine is null or reduced or altered or harmful or sell such adulterated medicine or any other thing as medicine or give it to anyone for the purpose of treatment or cause any person to consume such medicine.
(2) A person who commits an offense under sub-section (1) shall be punished as follows:-
(a) In case of death due to consumption of such medicine, the same as death,
(b) If there is a risk of death due to the consumption of such medicine, it is the same as committing a murderous act,
(c) Imprisonment for up to ten years and fine up to one lakh rupees, if any part of the body is damaged or its strength is weakened or lost due to consumption of such medicine,
(d) Imprisonment up to five years and fine up to fifty thousand rupees in cases other than in clause (a), (b) or (c).
